His friend Kay Timmis does not believe them. In the months before his death, Neil had become increasingly distant, increasingly preoccupied, as if he suspected he might be in danger. Kay is determined to discover the truth about what happened to him. The final photographs Neil took were all of the same man. But who is Gregory King, and how might he be linked with a tragic incident from Neil’s past?

Marion Scott was born in Croydon in 1935. She spent her early childhood in Nairobi, but was sent home to London after WW2 to complete her education. With her parents and younger brother still in Kenya, Marion spent her school vacations with her grandparents in rural Aberdeenshire. With few friends nearby and little to occupy her time, Marion began to try her hand at writing ghost stories, inspired by the books she discovered in her grandfather’s library. Marion read English at Newnham College, Cambridge, and worked for some years in the university’s admissions department. She published stories and essays in a variety of magazines from the late 1960s right through until the late 1970s. ‘Servants to the King’ appeared after a ten-year hiatus, and reflects Scott’s interest in the work of writers such as Anna Kavan and Robert Aickman as well as older weird tales.

The Eden Book Society is a literary hoax perpetrated by Dead Ink in order to create a playground for today's horror authors to let their imaginations run wild.
